The blood test, known as a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, measures the level of PSA and may help detect early prostate cancer.

They will check your skin and eyes for signs of jaundice, and you may also have a urine and blood test. If you have symptoms that could be caused by prostate cancer, you should visit your GP. For many men with prostate cancer, treatment is not immediately necessary. For reasons not yet understood, prostate cancer is more common in men of African-Caribbean or African descent, and less common in men of Asian descent. Mild cases of pneumonia can usually be treated at home with antibiotics, rest and fluids.
Injecting steroids into the piriformis muscle is not a licensed use of the drug. However there is some evidence that these injections can be helpful. In some cases the procedure may have to be repeated as many as three times. However, you may feel a benefit after one or two injections.

The injection is given to relieve buttock pain that may be radiating into the back of the thigh and sometimes down the leg. Your pain may be caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle which may be chronically contracted or tense. Before your consent to treatment the Consultant will discuss the expected benefits and risks with you. Your GP will recommend the most suitable treatment programme for you, which may involve using a combination of treatments.
